5th Anniversary Exhibition: Selected Paintings By Twenty-Three Contemporary Artists

This is a very important year for Schoeni Art Gallery. After 5 years of growth we have curated an exhibition of the selected works by twenty-three contemporary artists. Our 5th Anniversary Exhibition, opens on the 27th February and continues until the 27th March. The collection represents the broad spectrum of styles and commitment of the gallery to each artist included. Each artist’s individuality and mastery of the medium of oil paint lends this group exhibition great vision and depth.

The exhibition includes exciting new works by the masters Wang Yidong and Jiang Guofang. Both of whom were among the first artists to graduate from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, after the Cultural Revolution. Each enjoys a reputation for being a leading contemporary realist painter.

Artists, Li Guijun, Weng Danxian, Yu Shaofei, Zhang Li and Zhu Yiyong carry on the realist tradition with beautiful portrait and well observed traditional Chinese characters. Hong Ling’s landscape combines Western oil painting technique with traditional Chinese aesthetics. The paintings of Wang Huaxiang, and Russian artist Alexander Zhacharov, drift away from realism, but have strong realist painting technique, presenting the viewer with a “true lie” and “Infinity”.

Reality is pushed further away and examined by the leading modern artists, Fang Lijun, Liu Wei, Sundukov, Xia Xiaowan, yang Shaobin, Yue Minjun, and Zhang Gong. Each artist explores the modern world with a new perspective and aesthetic. Sichuan artists, Guo Jin and Zhong Biao’s exciting new works highlight another new direction, one which was brought to the forefront of the China! exhibition in the Kunstmuseum, Bonn.

This 5th Anniversary Exhibition is a rare opportunity to see the new works of so many contemporary masters together in a group exhibition.
