Schoeni Art Gallery Ltd is honoured to have the opportunity to present the paintings of the artist Xia Xiaowan. This will be the first time that the public and the international art world will enjoy these answers to the painters own questions. They are interesting paintings with a great sense of colour and movement; green swirling seas carry the bodies of bathers in a whirlpool. Paintings from this new perspective offers the viewer a rare glimpse at an angle on life that you only see when lying down on the ground. Xia Xiaowan depicts modern life by studying it from underneath, looking up at people in small moments of time!

Xia Xiaowan is born in 1959, Beijing. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1982 and is currently teaching in the Central Drama Academy in Beijing. His paintings represent spiritual awakening and his most recent works show a colourful expression of a new reality after years of searching.

The private viewing of this long awaited solo exhibition will be on Thursday the 24th of September at Schoeni Art Gallery Ltd. The artist will be present and we will release a catalogue with a selection of Xia Xiaowan's most important paintings.

Collecting contemporary paintings has a distinct advantage over collecting past masters; The chance to meet the artist and to discuss the subject matter presented on the canvas. It is a must to meet Xia Xiaowan to understand fully the meaning and message the artists wants to express! The artist will be available for interviews between the 22nd and 26th of September.
